Toyota Tsusho has been participating in the Tee-CycleTM t-shirt

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe fashion sector has been noted as being an industry that places a major burden on the
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tenvironment, with large amounts of energy being used in manufacturing, and with a short
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproduct lifecycle. This has emerged as a significant international issue, and there are
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tworldwide calls to reduce the impact on the environment and switch over to a more
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsustainable industry structure. In Japan, the current situation is that these kinds of
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinitiatives have been limited. To reduce the burden on the environment, Toyota Tsusho is
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tworking together with diverse partner firms to jointly build a new apparel lifecycle
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmodel.<\/p>\n

In line with its mission statement \u2013 \u201cWe\u2019re in business to
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsave our home planet\u201d \u2013 Patagonia not only undertakes the manufacturing and sale of
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tapparel products, but also promotes activities aimed at safeguarding the environment,
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand is taking on the challenge of switching over to using only fiber derived from
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trenewable raw materials and recycled fiber.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u25cfOverview of the Initiative
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tToyota Tsusho has been supplying Patagonia with originally designed fabrics for more
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthan 20 years, and has been supporting Patagonia\u2019s progressive and environmentally
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tconscious product development. With Tee-Cycle\u2122, Toyota Tsusho has begun to work to
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tseparate and classify collected cotton products and transport them to recycling
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcompanies. It will realize, for the first time, the establishment of a clothing
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcirculation model for used cotton products collected from consumers, by playing a role
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin the supply chain of recycling-based products that recycle used clothing for re-use as
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclothing. Toyota Tsusho contributes to the realization of a circular economy by
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpromoting recycling-oriented downstream businesses that recycle waste in order to pass
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ton a better global environment to the children of the future. In addition, by promoting
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinitiatives to build a resource circulation model for apparel, it will create a future
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhere there are opportunities for all discarded clothing to be remade again as clothing.

Towel to Towel Recycling Project<\/h2>\n

Toyota Tsusho has been participating in the REBORN COTTON towel
\n\t\t\t\t\t\trecycling project in collaboration with Towel Museum Group.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTowel Museum Group has a management philosophy that emphasizes \u201cConstantly contributing
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttoward people\u2019s spiritual enrichment and toward enhancing lifestyles and culture.\u201d
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBesides undertaking initiatives to safeguard the environment, the Group also pursues and
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpromotes corporate activities that can contribute toward realizing a safe, healthy
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsociety and toward people\u2019s happiness, and is working actively to reduce the amount of
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twater and energy used in its own production facilities, to reduce the amount of waste
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat needs to be incinerated, and to cut greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Overview of the Initiative
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWe have launched the REBORN COTTON project in collaboration with Towel Museum Group,
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhich has begun full-scale operation of a towel recycling business. Recycling used
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttowels reduces the quantity of towels that need to be disposed of as waste, thereby
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcontributing toward the cutting of CO2 emissions. Used towel collection boxes have been
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinstalled at Towel Museum Group direct outlets and department store outlets throughout
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJapan. The collected used towels, together with waste generated during the towel
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproduction process, are blended with virgin cotton through various processes to create
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tREBORN COTTON, with the \u201creborn\u201d fiber being used as weft yarn in towel production. By
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgetting consumers involved and changing behavior, the aim is to promote more resource
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcirculation and help to realize carbon neutrality.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

REBORN COTTON recycling flow
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u2022 Used towel collection boxes are installed in stores and in mobile shops
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u2022 The collected towels are delivered to factories designated by Toyota Tsusho, where
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthey undergo a series of processes \u2013 including cutting, re-carding, and spinning \u2013 and
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare blended with virgin cotton, to make REBORN COTTON recycled fiber
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u2022 The REBORN COTTON is used commercially as weft yarn in towel production; the \u201creborn
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttowels\u201d made using this recycled fiber bear a label with the \u201cREBORN COTTON\u201d logo on it
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u2022 The \u201creborn towels\u201d are sold through normal sales channels, bringing the towels back
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto the consumer again<\/p>\n
